Continuous Personal Development

At Homewood School, we are committed to the continuous development of our already highly-trained and enthusiastic staff team. Homewood works with various local and national organisations to offer development opportunities, ranging from those new to the sector to those aspiring the leadership. Training and development programmes are underpinned by current evidence and best practice and with a spirit of autonomy and collegiate investigation. These include:

  • A performance appraisal programme that focuses on individual improvement with high levels of autonomy
  • A highly-successful Initial Teacher Training programme that supports new entrants via different routes into the profession
  • An early career programme for those who have recently achieved QTS; this includes commitment to the Early Career Framework from September 2021 and in conjunction with Leadership Learning South East (LLSE)
  • Subject-specific development sessions led by highly experienced subject leaders
  • A very wide range of pastoral training for teaching and non-teaching staff
  • A Leadership Development Programme for aspiring leaders, including National Professional Qualifications in conjunction with  Leadership Learning South East (LLSE)
  • Development opportunities via specialist external providers
  • Development opportunities to work with school teams on SEND, pastoral, staffing, and teaching and learning issues
  • Promotion and progression opportunities, including 'double point' boosts up the pay scale for exceptional years
