Homewood Principal Jeremy Single says, “I am so incredibly proud of our Young Farmers following their very many achievements at the Kent County Show.  The Young Farmers are so dedicated and work exceptionally hard looking after the animals and running our school farm.  Not only do they deserve every rosette and trophy awarded (and they were awarded a lot!), but they are extremely worthy winners of the title of ‘2022 Kent County Show Young Farmers Champions’!  Huge congratulations to all involved!  I would also like to thank and congratulate Miss Pearce and Miss Stevens as Farm Manager and Assistant Farm Manager for their amazing work supporting the students and developing our farm.  They too most definitely deserve their Kent County Show award for being ‘Best Teacher Leaders’!”

Miss Jemima Pearce, Farm Manager, tells us, “We had a brilliant weekend at the Kent County Show, and we were ecstatic to come away with overall winning club, we had many setbacks along the way but this made the victory even more priceless. The students truly did the school and themselves proud, and I know this is something they will remember for many years to come. After huge success at the Heathfield Agricultural Show and now the Kent County Show we are looking forward to our final summer show this year, The Edenbridge and Oxted Show in August.”

Miss Victoria Stevens, Assistant Farm Manager, also tells us, “What an incredible weekend at The Kent County Show. Winning ‘The club with the most points overall’ with a difference of 72 points is a landslide victory! I am incredibly proud of all of the students who participated before and during the show. This is my first win in the 8 years of competing at the Kent County Show with various clubs. But this success is down to the fantastic bright and dedicated students at Homewood. They are an absolute credit to the school.”

Members of the Young Farmers’ Club proudly speak about their achievements.

Chloe Year 12: “I was so excited to show the first Bazadaise at the Kent County Show, and I look forward to showing Homewood’s first homebred Bazadaise next year. We all worked so well together as a team, and we owe everything to the farm staff.”

Jade Year 10: “I had the time of my life, and I can’t wait to do it all again next year.”

Brett Year 7: “It was an amazing time and I enjoyed it as it was my first time at the show I was a bit nervous walking her (Olympia is a 10-month-old British blue x cow) on the Thursday but my confidence grew throughout the weekend, and on the Sunday, I got through to the championship with her.”
