Friends of Homewood

Friends of Homewood is a small Committee of Staff and parents who aim to organise fundraising events to support the students of the school, by providing financial support for equipment that would not otherwise be available for the students. Friends of Homewood raised £8,000 towards funding of the Arts College Status and Sinden Theatre. Friends of Homewood were pleased to be able to support Homewood School & Sixth Form Colleges’ Capital Grant application and we have pledged over £6,000 between 2007 – 2011 in sponsorship to support further school development. The School has been granted £25,000 in Grant sponsorship to provide an opportunity to renew facilities and equipment and to improve and sustain relationships with local businesses and employers who can help the school give pupils real and exciting learning experiences to prepare them for work or further education courses. In recent years we have been able to help by providing:

Funding for the mini school reward system when it was set up.
Cricket Kit for a pupil playing in the under 15’s at County level.
A laser printer for the photography Dept. to minimise costs to pupils.
We have helped to fund the ‘Stars in their eyes’ talent contest annually in school.
£650 to the Young Farmers towards showing costs at the Kent Show, for white coats and a trailer for the animals.
Funding towards expedition costs for Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions.
£270 to the ERS Dept. for a digital camera.
£350 to the Art Dept for display cases to display pupils’ exam work safely.
£165 For a Photo-dryer for the dark room in the photography Dept.
£350 For an A3 scanner for digital imaging for Art course work, to minimise pupil costs.
£400 for Rugby Shirts for the school team.
£200 for Hockey Kit for the school team.
We have been helping to raise funds for the new Vocational Catering Course, for essentials such as ingredients as Government funding does not cover these.

We would really appreciate the support of any parents who would like to help support the students of the School in this way, either by joining the Committee, or by contacting us to offer your help at one of the events, or by coming to support our events.
