Post-16 Choices for students currently in Year 11

Raising the Participation Age (RPA)

Students who are currently in Year 11 in the 2012/2013 cohort are expected to stay in learning or training for another year. By continuing to learn and participate students will improve both their career and life chances by developing the skills and qualifications they need to be successful.

Students have the following options:

Full time education at Homewood or another school or college 

• Full time education at Homewood or another school or college
• Full time work with learning attached to it, e.g. an apprenticeship.
• Part time education if you are self employed, volunteering or doing some other type of useful activity.

School Support

• During the immersion day 15th November 2012 Year 11 students were guided through setting up their profiles and navigating the https://www.ucasprogress.com/ website. The website allows students to search and apply for post 16 opportunities available in Kent.
• On the same day students wishing to follow an apprenticeship/work related route were provided with an overview of the process by a representative from K College.
• Prior to the Sixth form open evening on the 24th January 2012 the website will be revisited in school time for students who wish to apply to Sixth Form. The website will be live for applications from this date onwards. 

Listed below are all the key dates for students applying to Homewood. Information and contacts will also be available on our school website under KS5/6th form.

24th January 2013

Homewood’s KS5 Courses evening: 5pm – 7pm

Applications via the https://www.ucasprogress.com/ will be able to be made from this time. 

8th March 2013

Closing date for Sixth Form applications (Application deadlines are not the same for all institutions and we would advise you check these carefully.

March/April 2013
