6th form Whacky Races
As a finale to our month of team building and group bonding activities we spent the afternoon of 30th September in the sunshine competing in a fun sports event. Races such as egg and spoon, the hopping, rolling, cart wheeling medley relay, dressing up relay, 6 legged race and 3 man wheelbarrow took place. Teams were fiercely competitive spurred on by an enthusiastic crowd and the winners by a large margin were Mr Buss’ tutor group S4.

Youth Navigators
For the past few weeks eight Homewood School students have been working with the Turner Contemporary art gallery in Margate where they have been involved in a series of training sessions to become ‘Youth Navigators’ to give tours of the exhibition called ‘Nothing in the World but YOUTH’ to the public. Their latest visit on 14th October allowed Homewood’s Youth Navigators to put into action their training, and they were the first group ever to give tours to students from another school.
They met with Art students from Fort Pitt Chatham school, and engaged the students in conversations about the art work and encouraged them to discuss ideas and thoughts to help observe the exhibition. Miss Rickard, the teachers from Fort Pitt, and the staff at the gallery were really impressed with the Youth Navigators’ effort and maturity they showed whilst touring the gallery.
Like Homewood School, the Turner Contemporary gallery is also an Apple regional training Centre, so Mr Lloyd was able to meet with staff as they are keen to continue to build links with our students and staff for future projects.
