KICC Use

Students and staff are encouraged to make good use of all KICC facilities. We are open before and after school to offer help with homework and to issue resources.

The KICC operates a 'Wish List' scheme which means staff and students can request items for the shelves. There are regular exciting competitions, a 'Book' or 'Author' of the month recommendation from students, a mechanism for students and staff to review books and films and a monthly Newsletter posted on the website.

The KICC works closely with teachers and is regularly involved in holding author events, creative writing days, History Mystery mornings, Events for Primary School students and other exciting projects.

The KICC runs the Book Buzz Reading Challenge for all year 7 students and is the organising body for the Southern Schools Book Award. The award involves 37 schools from the southern region and is a mechanism for students to read, review and vote for their favourite short listed book. It also offers a wonderful opportunity for them to meet the authors.

We welcome students throughout the school day for individual research but they must be accompanied by a permission slip.

Students need to enrol to become borrowing members. Parental permission is required before we can operate the biometric technology software incorporated into the Eclipse Library Management software. Enrolment forms are held in the KICC.

Students can borrow up to three items at a time. Books are loaned for a week at a time but can of course be renewed. DVDs and Videos are for over night loan.

Staff may borrow up to ten items or unlimited if requiring book boxes.
