Rye Mini School comprises of 2 departments:

Mathematics
ENGLISH
Teachers within the department are firmly committed to raising the achievements of all students, by developing their communication skills through a wide range of enjoyable and purposeful activities. We strongly believe that this aim is best served by offering a varied diet of Speaking and Listening, Reading and Writing activities. In a typical lesson, students
might encounter texts in a range of forms, be encouraged to discuss key features of them and use their investigations to inform their own writing.
We believe that this integrated approach enables students to develop as confident speakers, listeners, readers and writers.
In order to develop our curriculum, we work closely as a team, identifying and sharing good practice at regular formal and informal meetings.
Successful activities have been combined to produce a range of impressive Schemes of Work across all Key Stages.
Our enthusiastic and professional approach to teaching and learning has yielded SATs, GCSE and A-Level results which compare favourably within the school, the county and when compared to other comprehensive schools. The fact that students at Homewood enjoy English and achieve to a high standard is a source of Departmental pride.
Mathematics
The Mathematics Department is located within its own building and benefits from a pleasant working environment. The Department comprises of experienced staff who operate within a supportive and flexible manner.
We actively involve students in their own learning and care about success.
We:
1. Have a maths club, which is thriving, together with a maths clinic, which aims to give students the opportunity of gaining help with aspects of their work, on a one to one basis.
2. Regularly allow students to enter the National Mathematical Challenge that seeks to identify the problem solving ability of those taking part.
3. Offer courses leading to GCSE Mathematics, GCSE Statistics and A-Level Mathematics. It is hoped to introduce A-Level Further Mathematics in the near future.
4. Aim to enthuse all students with the beauty and fascination of Mathematics whilst ensuring that they raise levels of achievement and attainment.
Our philosophy and vision is simple, we want for your children what we want for our own.
