Library
The Library was opened in June 2006 and has recently undergone some exciting changes. It has been designed to enable multiple activities to run simultaneously. With Fiction and Nursery Corners, computers and plenty of workspace, it is an important resource for the whole school. It aims to provide a wide range of materials that match the needs of the National Curriculum, promote reading for pleasure and fully support teaching and learning throughout the school.

Student use of the Library
KS3 and KS4 students may use the Library before and after school, as well as at break and lunchtimes. Students can also work in the Library for research during lessons providing they have written permission from their teacher. Students will attend the Library with their English class at least once a term and other teachers may also book the Library for their lessons. Resource borrowing is via the thumbprint scanner linked to registration.
All Year 7 and Year 8 students are automatically entered into our Just Read competition. This encourages students to read as many library books as possible in order to stand a chance of winning termly prizes.
Sixth Form students and staff have access to the Library throughout the day.
The Library invites prominent young peoples’ authors into Homewood for talks and creative writing workshops on a regular basis.

Students can access eBooks on their electronic devices via the app Sora or by visiting their website.
Sora Story time, competitions, films and newsletters are regular features of the Library. There is also a comprehensive range of stationery items for sale.
